I’ve written about Jetpack a few times before but there has been a lot of development work going on lately from the team at Automattic. Jetpack is an “a la carte” WordPress offering that allows you to use a lot of the same functions that folks on a WordPress.com hosted site have access to except that you can run them on your own self-hosted WordPress site. You can choose to “Activate” various options in Jetpack and you certainly don’t have to use them all.
Here are a couple of features that I think you will find very interesting if you are using Jetpack on your WordPress self-hosted site.
- Monitor – This is a great feature that will send you emails when and if your website goes offline. All you need to do is to activate it and configure it with the email address you want the updates to go to and you are all done.
- Jetpack SSO (Single Sign On) – This feature allows your users to log into your site using their WordPress.com credentials. No need for them to create multiple accounts.
- Site Verification – This feature in Jetpack makes it super simple to do verification for your WordPress self-hosted site for Google Webmaster Tools, Pinterest and Bing Webmaster Center. Currently these are the only 3 services available for verification but I can see the possibility of more being added further down the road.
If you are looking to get even more functionality out of your WordPress self-hosted site then don’t pass this up and be sure to download Jetpack today.
