How to Manually Add Plugins in WordPress Using an FTP Client

Today i am going to show you how to add plugins to your WordPress website using an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) client.  Don’t mind the technical jargon so much because all you really need to know is that FTP allows you to add files to your website hosting directories.  I personally use FileZilla as my FTP client but you can use any FTP client when you do this.  So let me show you just how easy it is to add plugins to your WordPress website using an FTP client.

Once you’ve entered your credentials into your FTP client and you’ve successfully logged in you can navigate your directories from the root directory to the /wp-content/ directory.  From here look for the /plugins/ directory and click on it.

Lastly, select the plugin that you’ve previously downloaded to your computer and select the upload option on your FTP client and this will add the plugin into your plugin directory.  Adding plugins using an FTP client can give you the ability to add, edit and delete plugins from WordPress.
